New neice
My sister finally had her baby Monday night -- Natalie Michelle Canup-Mihran, 7lb 2 oz and I forgot the length. Full head of hair. I'll post a picture soon. She went into the hospital Saturday morning to be induced and after several rounds of prostaglandon and pitosin, finally delivered Monday 11:30 PM or so. THe mother was in much better shape than her husband who hadn't slept for 3 days.

USPS
One might hope that in a town of 1000 people and a street 3 blocks long with only 6 active addresses that the USPS could deliver mail sent to the old number after the street was renumbered, but you would be wrong.  Returned NSN -- no such number.  104 --> 281 now.

So much for a timely condolence card.  Sigh.

Well back for a week already...
Our well traveled luggage arrived back here on Thursday -- intact.

I've thumbnailed the images so they aren't quite so daunting. Will be purging the duds as time permits starting with Delhi which I hope to post tonight.

Barbs's been sick (chest congestion) since we've been back -- hopefully she will be over that soon.

I have revised the link slightly. Pictures are at India pictures

Enjoy!

Pictures from India
Currenly in Agra, India. Visited the Taj Mahal this morning, but the pictures weren't great --too much smog.

I've posted some full sized images from the Red Fort --the place where the bulder of the Taj was imprisoned by his son to prevent him from spending all his money buildig theblack mrble Taj accross the river from the white marble one -- he only got the foundation in before the son could cut him off. Enjoy -- I will be posting others, editting, and resizing as time permits. So check the link more than once.

Well here we are in Moscow
We survived -- well much more than survive the Trans Siberian Railway. Met a very nice couple from France last night, with whom we had dinnr. They wre on their way back from her parents home in Tomsk, Siberia to Normandy,France. We shard a very nice "picnic" dinner on the train.

I will have some pictures from Irkutsk ad lake Baikal up on the web server soon -- just transferred a bnch of pictures over there, but haven't mad them public just yet (still transferring). We'll be in Moscow two nights, then the long flight home starts. First to Frankfurt, then direct into LAX, then a SouthWest flght back to San Jose. Not looking forward to the flights, but beng home will be nice.

Barbara has written several hundred pages in her paper journal I will be sharing some of that later.

Nice to have "real" hi-speed internet for a change.

More later, now it is off on a city tour.

Hugs to all.

P.S. It is "City day" here -- celebrating th 860th anniversery of the foundig. Traffic was a mess, as the streets around the Hotel are all closed. Heding off on foot to a nice restorant for dinner.

Greetngs from Vladivostok, Sibera
Well we arrived safely yesterday after un-eventful flights.

Spent today wodering around Vladivostok loking at the sights, tourng a museum and visiting the train station. Nobody seemed at all concerne about our taking pictures of trains which was a relief as we had been led to belive that it mght be forbidden

We had a bit of a scare about our pick-up for the train tomorrow -- the pick-upis scheduled for 8PM for a 9:35 train, but when we got to the train station, the time posted for our train wa 14:35 or 2 o'clock in the afternoon. We thought we had a problem until we read he Rusian on the ticket that said train schedules are all posted in Moscow time rather than local time.

That is good news and bad, we have more time in Vladivostok, but we will be going through the mountains at night.

More later...

Barb updated the Fes slideshow so it now works and has a few new pictures and a few deleted.

Going to a Railroad Museum event in Portland over the weekend, then stressful week as my Dad is scheduled for a brain shunt on Monday and my Mom is scheduled for surgery on the 25th (they have been divorced for 32 years). Dad is 86 and Mom is 90. Wish them well.

Been pretty quiet around the ranch, the new kittie (16 yr old female Main coon cat) is settling in. The two cats have come to an agreement if not actuazlly friends.

Not much else new.

Here is the "Blue gate" in the old town of Fes. Note the Moroccan (horseshoe) arch (as opposed to the Byzantine tulip shape) and the square minaret (similar to an Anglican steeple).

No pictures yet...
But we do have drama at home -- a "new" cat -- a 16 yr old 8lb female Maine coon cat named Yahu. Rex is none to sure about this, he has spent a lot of time hiding on his perch in the corner. Today was the first day we have left them both out (as opposed to in her crate or a bedroom with the door closed. They've checked each other out -- at a distance -- and have remained in their own corners (Yahu in the bedroom, Rex on his pearch. Rex (a 14 yr old, 14 lb male) has been cowering since she came into the house. No fur yet, we are hopeful they will work out a truce.

Anyway stayed tuned.
